This Sudoku
technique involves noting down all the possible positions for all the numbers from 1-9.
This Sudoku technique is similar to the hidden pairs technique, but with three numbers. Often in a Sudoku puzzle, you will find three identical options in three cells in the same row, column or region. If these three values do not appear elsewhere in the row, column or region, they can be narrowed down to these three corresponding cells. You can therefore eliminate all the other options from these cells. In one or more of the three cells, you may find only two of the three options are present. In such cases, this Sudoku technique can still be applied. Have a look the following example.
In this region, the figures 2, 6 and 9 appear in three cells only. These numbers have been underlined for your convenience. We can therefore rule out all the other possible values in these cells
