This Sudoku technique involves noting down all the possible positions for all the numbers from 1-9.

In a Sudoku puzzle, you will often find that two cells in the same row, column or region have two identical options. If these two options do not appear elsewhere in the same row, column or region, then you can be sure that they have to be placed in either of these two cells. By a process of elimination, you can now rule out all the other possibilities for these two cells. Take a look at the following example:

In row 7, the numbers 7 and 8 can only be placed in columns 4 and 6. The other options in these two cells can therefore be ruled out.
